When contacted by the alumni web team about an article published by "newKerala.com", Dr. Aloke Kumar Sen, Director, School of Management Sciences, Bengal Engineering and Science Univetrsity, Shibpur provided the following background.
"Board of Management of Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur (BESUS) has approved the proposal of South Indian Education Society College of Management Studies (SIESCOMS) for opening a research centre of School of Management Sciences, Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur (SOMS, BESUS) at Navi Mumbai Campus of SIESCOMS to carry out Doctoral Research Work in Management and subsequently a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to implement the proposal into reality has been signed between SIESCOMS and BESU, Shibpur. The Research Centre would produce Ph.Ds in Management under joint supervision of BESUS and SIESCOMS. The principal supervisor shall be the representative of SOMS, BESUS and joint supervisor shall be the representative of SIESCOMS. The Ph.D. Programme in Management shall be governed by the existing regulations for Ph.D. Degree of BESUS. Ph.D. Programme in Management shall be offered in the areas of Strategic Management, Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management and Information Systems Management. Enrolment in Ph.D. Programme shall be commencing from January 2006."

City management college to introduce new doctoral programme
Mumbai: The city-based South Indian Education Society's College of Management Studies (SIESCOMS) will introduce a new doctoral programme (PhD) in Management Science from the coming academic session at its Nerul complex.
The SIESCOMS has designed this programme in collaboration with Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur (BESUS) in Howrah.
Under the arrangement, SIESCOMS will become the approved research centre for the PhD programme of BESUS in the field of Strategy, Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management and Information Systems Management.
The research will be done under the guidance of a supervisor at BESUS and it will be certified by an international referee.
BESUS, one of the leading centres of excellence, is the oldest engineering college in the country.
